about
With dynamite vocals and fierce guitar playing, Emilee South hollers throwback rock’n’roll, with hints of rhythm and blues.
South’s devastating new single, ‘Heartbreaker’ is a real hip shaker, combining elements of psycho surf and rock’n’roll.
A follow up to record ‘Motel’, released in 2017, and taste of distorted and raucous things to come on upcoming debut album,‘Heartbreaker’ will be released through Fever Shake Records on July 13.
Emilee South and band are celebrating the release with a residency at The Gem, playing a show every Saturday in July, with special guests.
lyrics
Slip up, I love it when you make mistakes
Stand up, oh baby when your hips shake,
Speak low, say just what I want to hear
Heartbreaker, mover and shaker, you shook me
Baby, you hit me like a lightning strike
Suddenly, my whole body's on fire
Ooh-wee, is this what the wanting tastes like?
Heartbreaker, mover and shaker, you shook me
Whoa, darlin' when you make those moves
Heartbreaker, I'd give anything to...
Keep up, I'm running rings around you
Heat up, got me feelin' kind of cool
Shake down, what is it that I've done to you?
I'm a heartbreaker, a mover and shaker, and I shook you
Whoa, darlin' when I make those moves
Heartbreaker, would you give to me, too?
I'm a heartbreaker, a mover and shaker, and I shook you

Combining the raw edge of punk with the driving force of rock, South shouts unapologetically over chaotic guitar riffs and
charging rhythms to themes of capitalism, feminism, privilege, and the power of community. With influences ranging from Grinderman and IDLES to Sharon Van Etten, the band go from from urgent hooks to unyielding power....more
Everything about this album is top-notch, but that's not why I felt the need to gush about it. This thing has magic inside it. If I'm feeling down to any degree, I know I can put this album on and come out the other side of it feeling refreshed, more energetic, more alive, inspired. Also, Freya's vocal ability is more than just technically impressive; her well-honed expressiveness can transport the listener straight into the worlds inside each song. This album's more potent than most medicine. yadoog
